American Service to India remembers with deep sadness and gratitude Ashok Ramnaney, one of the founding members of ASTI.

Ashok was part of the early vision that helped establish American Service to India and its mission of connecting generosity in the United States with meaningful charitable work serving people and communities in need throughout India.

For Ashok, helping the underprivileged in India was a cause close to his heart. His involvement with ASTI reflected a belief in service, compassion, and the importance of creating lasting opportunities to help those who might otherwise go without essential support.

The organization he helped establish has continued that work for decades, supporting charitable efforts in areas including healthcare, education, humanitarian assistance, and community welfare. The continued work of ASTI stands as a meaningful part of the legacy created by its founders and by those who believed that even from thousands of miles away, it was possible to make a difference in the lives of others.

As we remember Ashok, we are reminded that the legacy of a founding member is not measured only by the role he held, but also by the work that continues because he helped make it possible. ASTI remains deeply grateful for Ashok’s contribution to the organization’s beginnings and for his commitment to the values of compassion and service that continue to guide our mission today.

Ashok is survived by his beloved wife, Asha, and their son and daughter. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Asha, their children, the entire Ramnaney family, and all those who knew and loved him.
