Sri Ramakrishna Saradashrama

Sri Ramakrishna Saradashrama, Ponnampet, is a branch Centre of well known ‘Ramakrishna Math & Mission’ started by Swami Vivekananda. Since its inception in the year 1927 in the Tribal area, it has been catering to the needs of the Society in Medical, Educational, Socio-Cultural-Religious and Relief operations at times of natural calamities, without any distinction of sex, caste, creed, colour, race, religion, region, language, rich or poor.

Even Mahatma Gandhi visited this centre and appreciated the work done.

CULTURAL, MEDICAL, RELIEF AND SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES.

Ashrama conducts Periodical Retreats for interested people, for Tribal People, Yoga Classes, Students Workshops & Residential Summer camp for Kids,

1. Free Food Distribution (Annadanam):

During the Retreats, Worship and Birthday Celebrations of Holy Trio at the Ashrama, sumptuous Free Food Distribution (Annadanam) is done to all devotees and Kids in attendance. Food & Fuel expenditure was around Rupees 20 lakhs during the Financial Year 2022-2023

2. Education Services:

Economically backward meritorious students are supported by scholarships,note books & stationery. Tuition classes are held regularly to supplement the teaching in local government schools. Estimated Rupees 12 lakhs.

3. Vocational Training Programs: Ashram organizes vocational training programs to equip students with skills that will help them find employment and become financially independent. Programs such as computer literacy and Driving are offered to both young people and adults in the community. These have successfully provided jobs for quite a few who otherwise would have no resources to earn a living. Estimated Rupees 10 lakhs.

4. Women Empowerment: Ashram supports women empowerment initiatives by providing Tailoring, Free distribution of Sewing Machines for trained Students and skill training. These programs aim to economically empower women and help them become self-reliant. Estimated Rupees 10 lakhs.

4. Winter Relief: As part of the Winter Relief program, we distribute Woollen blankets, sweaters, jackets, Umbrellas, caps, and socks. Estimated Rupees 5 lakhs.

5. Medical Services: (Through our Ramakrishna Sevashrama Hospital) Medical Services were, started in the year 1942 have been going on uninterruptedly for 81 years, gradually expanding slowly. Regular Medical Camps at the Hospital and outdoor is being conducted with Free medicine distribution during Camps. We have limited diagnostic abilities like- Pathology lab, X-Ray, ECG. Ultra Sound Scanning. A small pharmacy with limited supplies is also there, as the local people cannot easily commute for some essential, limited number of pills with discounted rates. Dental section helps the poor & needy. A hospital with 25 Inpatient beds had to be provided. The above developments came long after we could afford only ‘Nature cure and Yoga therapy Centre’. We continue these also as the locals have expressed they are still benefiting by them. Estimated Medical Help Rupees 35 lakhs.

7. Relief Activities: During sudden calamities like floods, Covid, distress relief is provided with the help of a good group of volunteers. Rehabilitation in the affected villages is undertaken. Use of solar energy , source provided by the donors like you, is a welcome addition to their life and living.
